The invited designer's of the September 2010 edition
CLARA DS (France) Stand A25-5Inspired by the people she has met, her travels that have taken her from Africa to Europe and her art degree, Clara launched her eponymous label “Clara DS” in 2005, creating jewellery and small leather goods. Leather is at the heart of her work. She appreciates it because it is supple and malleable and for its strength and elegance. But the designer also explores the combination of this noble material with other materials: Stone, rib knit, Bohemian glass...Clara seeks out, explores and targets the chic, rock woman, who is sensual and sophisticated.

FALBALAS (France) Stand A25-4Holder of a degree from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Marseille, the designer Sabine Mercier perfected her couture talents as a costume designer for Grenoble Theatre before turning, in 2005, to the tailor-made and the transformation of existing garments and accessories that live another day as bags, jewellery, hats, scarves and more. Sabine likes to unearth vintage models and materials with inspirational details, that are re-useable, reinvent vintage leathers, take the buttons off a jacket here, re-use buckles in another life there...In this way an old pair of leather trousers rises, phoenix-like as two different bags! An original approach which is part of a sustainable development philosophy.

HANDE FABBRO (Turkey) Stand A25-5After graduating in industrial design, Hande began her career as an interior architect before being accepted at Central Saint Martins (England) where she won two prizes for her leather collections. She strongly believes in the inter-relation between disciplines of design. According to her, "leather is naturally inspiring by its surprising character with every touch and play.” In her leather career, both as a designer and freelancer in the last 10 years, her collections have been exhibited at pioneering international fairs under different labels. During LE CUIR A PARIS she will launch the first items from her eponymous collection, with a line that is chic, sporty, playful and exciting.

LEATHER & CREATION AREA- CTC (France) Stand A31"The industry has mandated CTC with the specific task of identifying young businesses and new talent to renew the pool of designers and maintain a spirit of innovation in the leather professions. Consequently, in 2009 CTC initiated the ‘Cuir & Creation’ programme. This is a multi-facetted action that combines funding, technical advice, coaching and promotion. The programme also includes an annual competition of the same name with the aim of rewarding and promoting a maximum of eight of the most innovative projects for the industry. Find out more about the winners of the first competition below. Others will follow...” FELICIE BAJARD
Félicie Bajard decided to create her label La Manufacture Des Rigoles in October 2008. This young creator, a designer by training, likes to work with unusual combinations of materials, such as leather and porcelain. All La Manufacture Des Rigoles items are made in France by talented artists. Félicie pays particular attention to the choice of materials, to details and to textures. Her Cuir de Veau (calf leather) range is made from full grain skins with little correction, thus respecting the natural grain. Her Toile de Lin (linen cloth) range is woven in northern France.

NADA LE HOANG AN
Nada Le Hoang An is a designer with a clearly defined identity resulting from her mixed origins. During her travels, she immersed herself in traditional folding techniques used in the manufacture of votive offerings and has developed leather bags using origami principles: with raw edges and then assembled without stitching. Nada bags are flexible, they bend, fold over, curve and transform. They are timeless and seductive for their simplicity and their pure lines.

MARIE PIERRE AUDIBERT
The Leony Lun label came into existence in January 2007 in Montpellier. Marie Pierre Audibert, its designer, draws her inspiration from the mineral and vegetable world as can be seen by her Spirit model designed in a crocodile-style bull leather whose grain resembles the bark of a softwood tree. The high-quality French production and a series of extra touches (a pompom, an engraved metal plate and a black crystal droplet symbolising a beauty spot) are the signature traits of the products from this ultra-feminine label.

AUDREY FALLOPE
Crazy about shoes since a child, Audrey Fallope was brought up with the idea that your footwear is the reflection of your self-esteem and also that an attractive shoe puts the finishing touch to a silhouette. Aged 14, Audrey took classes in applied arts at Boulle school followed by courses in visual communication at Duperré and graphic design at Gobelins. Still crazy about shoes, Audrey furthered her studies with a stylist/model maker diploma at AFPA. Her current ambition is to create tailor-made shoes or micro-collections of hand-made models.

AURELIA BARREAU
One of a family of leather craftsmen, Aurélia Barreau has always been passionate about craftsmanship and the nobility of leather. Over the years, her love of jewellery has taken shape. Aurélia seeks to unite these two worlds through her creations. Today she wants to develop leather jewellery “that takes her fancy". Her inspiration is highly eclectic: Medieval, gothic, mystic, Japanese and more. Her objective : To mostly produce one-off items and sometimes include other components like vintage buttons, embroidery or feathers.
HUGO LAMBERT
Hugo Lambert left school at 16 to work for a cobbler. He was trained at Cholet in shoe pattern cutting and, armed with his technician's diploma, he created his own label in 2003: ART-H-PIED. Hugo wants to develop a range of ecological shoes, and in doing so offer an alternative to the throwaway culture with models that are craftsman made, and maybe even one-off items.
BENOIT DUVIGNACQ
Clean lines, respect for materials, hand assembly and finishing: These are the strengths of the Benoit Duvignacq label, which manages to conceive the bag and its architecture as if it were a garment. From a simple accessory to a major piece of luggage, the items are all created in a wide range of colours and sizes. The number of models in the collection is enriched by special orders, to express the desire for contrasts and shades of colours of the noblest leathers and the most precious skins.
